Fantastic First Issue! screamed the first issue of Doctor Who Weekly. Of note in this issue are the Free Transfers, which were designed to be rubbed down onto the two panoramas on the inside front and back covers. Also there is a "Letter from the Doctor", The Iron Legion Comic Strip (which will be reprinted ad infinitum in later years) and a Photo-file on William Hartnell. Of course looking back at this issue it is ostensibly in the mould of many Marvel Comics of the period, with a reprinted comic strip inside (in the shape of The War of the Worlds), but from the first issue there are articles on the series' history and of course the Daleks, written with the help of Jeremy Bentham and other DWAS luminaries. On a personal note, I clearly remember seeing the first issue in a corner shop in October 1979 and persuading my Grandmother to purchase it for me, so starting a lifelong devotion to everyone's favourite Timelord. I was 9 years old...
